Well after following some gr8 advice from some gr8 bloggers i am back on! Dont know which bit did it though?
After trying to fix my laptop for hours last night to no avail, i put it on just now and it is working just fine & dandy. So thankyou to all those fab folk who took the time to post advice xxx

I must have missed all the excitement 
Glad it's ok now though.
When mine went wrong, I called the repair hotline who told me everything+nothing, so I gave up...and did as you did, switchedon and hey presto!

I have only been connected since christmas eve and you would not believe how many probs i have had! I have foolishly signed up with bt and the customer service is crap, infact it is none existant. I have been on with the technical staff 6 times because of connection problems. Bloody useless
